UNESCO DOSSIER

On agreement with the Minister of Cultural Heritage and the Superintendencies of Cultural and Environmental Heritage of Siracusa, the municipal administration offices of Catania, Ragusa, Noto and Scicli have each stipulated a convention with the International Centre of Baroque Studies for the drawing up and scientific care of the “UNESCO WHL FILE” for the placement of the cities as internal candidates for the Baroque and Late-Baroque of the Noto Valley in south eastern Sicily; as well as on the list of cultural Heritage Sites recognised by UNESCO. Single files of the cities were drawn up (requested by the eight municipalities) and moreover, a general file on the Noto Valley regarding all the towns proposed in the candidature are the following: Catania, Caltagirone, Militello in the Catania Valley, Modica, Noto, Palazolo acreide, Ragusa and Scicli.
