Scicli
The old street of Via del Corso in Scicli is a significant
example of the ample phenomenon of urban decline which is of interest
in the old part of the inhabited city, which with the passing of time
has developed itself on the hill towards the plain below. In its urban
entirety, in which architecture and nature are to be considered in symbiosis,
Scicli is a settlement that goes from the fort at the top San Matteo Hill,
down along the sides until finally reaching its unique characteristics
on the plain below. Thus, the city is situated in a spectacular manner
inside three quarries. These being the creeks of Modica, Santa Maria la
Nova and San Bartolomeo.
