In conclusion to the VII International Course of Conservation
and History of Architecture, organised by the International Study Centre
on Baroque (5-12 December 2003) on the topic “The Paths of Baroque
in south-eastern Sicily, awareness and integral conservation of the
cities in the Noto Valley World Heritage Site”, which has aroused
great interest in many learned men from various Italian and foreign
universities, with the united participation of the President of the
Faculty of Architecture in Siracusa, President of the Graduate Science
Course of Cultural Assets and the Scientific Committee of the International
Study Centre on Baroque, having noted a total lack of communication
with cultural institutions with regards to putting forward the project
of the management plan of the Noto Valley, requested by Unesco for the
network of the eight cities included in the world heritage site list,
let alone the initiatives of enhancement of the territory linked to
it and to be activitated,
REQUEST
a more incisive
participation of the Universities and the International Study Centre
of Baroque, that have specific and recognisable competences in the field
of territorial analysis as well as the culture of the 16th and 17th
centuries. Therefore, we hope that such cultural resources may contribute
to such an important and delicate process of relaunching the heritage
of the baroque age to aim at better awareness, conservation and valorisation.
